sermon synopsis

This morning I filled in for Pastor Sue, I don't know why because she was there. Here is a short version of what I had to say.

We are overlooking a relevant part of Jesus message of grace and love. What part you ask?
The part that tells how God's grace can work in our lives here and now.

I used John 10:9-10 as my base passage. If you look at the verbs Jesus uses here and in other places they are ALL in the present tense. It is only in explaining to the disciples the why and wherefores of the crucifixion and resurrection that Jesus speaks of the future. At all other times He is speaking or doing in the _here and now."

Why is this an important message for today? It is relevant because we live in a time of instant gratification. People want to know what is in it for them right now, They don't want to here of a future"when we all get to Heaven" or  a "in the sweet by and by" event.
